Der 29- jährige wurde am 17.05.1978 in Simbabwe geboren und wuchs unter musikalischen Einflüssen verschiedener Musikrichtungen wie Gospel, Reggae und Soul auf. Auch beim Komponieren der Instrumentals und Schreiben der Vocals kann er sehr erfolgreich auf die Hilfe anderer verzichten. Das kommt dem charmanten Mantis bei der Produktion seines ersten Soloalbums Love Take Control zugute, denn bis auf wenige Features von dem Sas- Spieler Ismet Topcu und dem Gitarristen Nicolas Tillman spielt er jedes der Instrumente selbst. 'mein Album ist genau so geworden, wie ich es mir vorgestellt habe!', so der selbstbewusste Musiker. Und genau das macht das Album Love Take Control so einzigartig. 'Love Is The Way' zeigt Ihnen, wie wichtig es ist, dass die Liebe zwischen zwei Menschen bestehen bleibt, auch wenn es schlechte Zeiten gibt.
Und das kann man förmlich fühlen: seine Songs sind emotional, mitreißend und inspirierend. In 'Man' legt Mantis den Schwerpunkt darauf sich selbst zu finden und genau zu wissen, wer und wie man eigentlich wirklich ist. Die Lyrics gepaart mit den rockigen Gitarren vermitteln Ihnen die Wichtigkeit dieses Gefühls. Und genau das ist es, was Mantis mit seiner Musik erreichen möchte: er möchte Emotionen wecken, Emotionen auf verschiedenen Ebenen: Liebe, Freude, Partylaune und Bewusstsein über sich und seine Umwelt. Das sind Emotionen, die jeder schon einmal gefühlt hat und deswegen geht von den Songs auf dem Album auch eine so hohe Spiritualität aus.
'Ich sehe die Musik als Sprache und ich möchte in dieser Sprache mit den Menschen kommunizieren. Mut dazu, das zu schaffen, was sie wollen. Ich möchte meine Zuhörer inspirieren und ihnen Mut geben. Es geht nur darum zu wissen, was man will.'
